~ Without Slaughter ~
USDA Secretary Vilsack’s “Third Way” can remedy the excess horse dilemma better than slaughter. These are some existing programs. There are many, many more. The vast majority of horses who end up at the borders come from somewhere else. To be successful, the situation must be addressed at the source. New Mexico is beginning to overcome the issue. If we only had to deal with those within each state and other states would deal with theirs, we could make real progress nationwide.
Please share this document everywhere! People need to be made aware that there options other than slaughter available!
Most of all, send this document to your Senators and Representative who think that horse slaughter is the only way to take care of the supposed ‘excess horse’ problem; if they are not co-sponsoring the Safeguard American Food Export Act of 2013 S541 and HR1094 make sure they see this document:
