Wild Horse Freedom Federation’s White Paper exposes BLM: Never-seen evidence proves America’s wild horses and burros are disappearing without explanation

PINEHURST, TexasJuly 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Wild Horse Freedom Federation, Inc. (WHFF), today released its white paper, “Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse & Burro Program, with a Focus on Problems Related to Holding Facilities.”  America’s wild horses and burros – long a national treasure and symbol of freedom – are endangered and being pushed towards extinction, despite the Trump administration’s promise to uphold the rule of law.

The comprehensive white paper cites taxpayer waste and multitudes of inconsistencies in documentation presented to both the American public and Congress.  These alleged offenses continue to occur under the direction of Trump-appointed Secretary of the Department of Interior (DOI), Ryan Zinke.

WHFF’s document notes current and historical violations that include evidence of misrepresentation, wasting taxpayer funds, and lack of scientific accounting for the wild horses and burros — in absolute defiance of the Congressional statute that provides for the safety of the iconic wild herds.

The five-year investigation culminating in the document has uncovered a consistent pattern of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) releasing misinformation thought to confuse and mislead the American taxpaying public and legislators.

For years, the BLM has taken healthy wild horses and burros from their legally protected lands in the American West at the expense of taxpayers.  Notably, on those lands, the cost to taxpayers was nothing, yet the BLM roundups have continued, taking tens of thousands of wild horses into captivity.  Despite the reported number of horses in captivity (46,000) to date, large numbers of horses have mysteriously disappeared from the holding pens or during transports where they never arrived.  And it appears that taxpayer money has been wasted by the BLM, at the expense of the wild horses and burros they are supposed to protect.

ACTION ALERT: OPPOSE Wild Horse and Burro Oversight Act S.1845 H.R.3172

25 Jul

” Today, I found out about something that is really bad, putting ALL of America’s Wild Horses and Burros in danger. For the last 3 months, we have been opposing SJR007, a Utah Senate Joint Resolution to have states lethally control Wild Horses and Burros. SJR007 is now a thing of the past, because today Representative Chris Stewart and Senator Orrin Hatch introduced an Act (The Wild Horse Oversight Act), that would amend the 1971 Wild Horse and Burro Free Roaming Act to have the states and registered Indian tribes, manage our Wild Horses and Burros in America.

This would mean no more BLM management (that follows set HMA regulation standards), but rather the Fish and Wildlife Service managing Wild Horses and Burros along with the States. This would also mean that the States could set the numbers for the amount of Wild Horses and Burros removed from the lands, rather than the Federal Government. If you know how the States operate, you will know that the number of Wild Horses removed would rise drastically, which could result in no more Wild Horses and Burros. Not to mention, it has not been disclosed how the Wild Horses would be removed, if they will be adopted, or even if they will be sold to slaughter. This is an absolutely HORRIBLE THING that we ALL need to act on NOW!!! The main motive that Stewart has is – he thinks there are too many Wild Horses on the land. This is absolutely untrue and unproven! “

Two year old Pregnant Mare Dies at Palomino Valley Center

12 Jul

Yesterday, after seeing a photo posted by Patty Summerson-Bumgarner on facebook of a dead mare at Palomino Valley Center, I was urged to contact the correctional facility where the foal was taken.  I called them and was told they had no idea what I was talking about.  So I called Palomino Valley Center  775-475-2222  Saturday morning at 11:48 AM to ask about the new foal that was born as mentioned in the news report posted by  KTVN:

BLM Foal Taken to Orphan Care

.
“Photos surfaced online Saturday of a mare that passed away during childbirth overnight Thursday at the Palomino Valley Bureau of Land Management’s wild horse and burro holding facility.
.
John Neill of the Bureau of Land Management confirmed that the 2 year old mare was found deceased when workers arrived early Friday morning. The mother and foal were removed from the pen and the foal was successfully delivered. The foal was taken to Northern Nevada Correctional Center where the BLM has an orphan care program. “

Elderly BLM STALLIONS recently gathered from Sulphur, Utah – found homes!

21 May

A WEDNESDAY FEEL GOOD STORY: The Elderly BLM STALLIONS recently gathered from Sulphur, Utah – found homes! – Horse and Man.

Lots of feel good stories from the previous internet adoption auctions, but this one was pretty exceptional – advocates and rescuers working together sharing photo posts about the horses and 2 jennies [Rosemary (necktag 5237) and Rosebud (necktag 5431), at Mantle Ranch which are on the upcoming internet adoption again] . I was totally surprised to see that all the elderly sulphur horses were adopted and some of them at sanctuaries.

Wild horse in holding at Elm Creek, NE Do you recall when several mares had been taken out of the auction? They were taken out because they were foaling. I found out a few hours ago that the ladies who won a few auctions and also arranged transport for the 3 sulphur sale authority stallions to go to the Black Hills of South Dakota …well the really GREAT news is that those two ladies have arranged that those mares and foals will be joining the stallions at Black Hills. Be sure to donate a couple bucks if you can.

Since the BLM WHB facebook page usually posts 5 or 6 horses available for the internet adoption auction on their page that may only help those 5 or 6 horses or burros. Photos are ‘deal clinchers’ – photos motivate – while words could be just too good to be true.  When horse lovers see a photo of a horse, if that’s the horse they’ve been hoping to have, they join the auction.  It’s the photos that motivates them to try to win that horse at the auction.

Join this facebook event if you want to help share photo-posts of the wild horses and burros in the June 2, 2015 -> BLM Wild Horse and Burro Internet adoption starting June 2, 2015

Most of the wild horses and burros that BLM WH&B program have put up for adoption, have gone through the jute chutes chased by helicopters; others have been captured in traps and still others are born in holding pens.

This is the beginning of their relationship with humans and it doesn’t get much better for most; the worst possible scenario for them is deadly.

Most will end up in holding pens and even the lucky horses and burros that have been adopted may end up in bad situations and are at risk of going to slaughter.

BLM Wild Horse and Burro adoption program: Where are the Photographs?

3 May

Paul’s Valley, OK (long term holding facility) added 31 horses Saturday (May 2) to the in-progress Internet adoption auction. Bidding started on this auction on May 21 and ends on May 5, 2015. I’ve been checking in on this Internet Adoption event for several weeks before bidding started and have reviewed each gallery several times a week and have always seen the “Coming Soon” text where a photo should be for the Paul’s Valley facility. But it was only tonight that I saw that there were 30 boxes of “Coming Soon” in the photo’s location except for one box. (See her photo below, Necktag: 1997)

How Much Of Your Heritage, Nobility, And Honor Are You Willing To Give Up, America?

22 Apr

How Much Of Your Heritage, Nobility, And Honor Are You Willing To Give Up, America?.

I’m not willing to give this up Captain William E. Simpson! I’ve heard and read most of the lies that are told about the wild horses and burros by the BLM…how do they get away with that year after year? Why is it no one in Congress investigating this program?

What’s Wrong with the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program? LOTS!

20 Apr

While reading Necktag #5846 profile information on the bidding page I realized she was a a young foal when captured and now has spent 5.5 years in short term holding. As I reviewed the Elm Creek, Nebraska photo gallery, I noticed some of the horses available for internet adoption auction had been in short term holding facilities all their lives, 6 years for some while others were “born in a holding facility” and some of these did not indicate which holding facility or the HMA of origin.
It is annoying that they can’t keep good records about the cattle grazing on public lands, or have solid data on the numbers of horses and burros still running free so it’s not new that the Wild Horse and Burro Program cannot track foals in holding pens and know their HMA of origin. Or, maybe they do know but can’t recall or find the missing data? It doesn’t help that any foals born in a holding facility aren’t counted if they are under 6 months old. And if they die, they still don’t count! Yet vetting, food and care during the first six months of their lives is still paid for via tax dollars. What a way to run a federal program! They don’t count everything we pay for….

For the past few weeks, I’ve been checking the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Internet Adoption pages to see what horses are there and prepare to make some tweets in advance for more exposure to find homes for the wild horses and burros. However, this isn’t easy or quick to do because there are no social media share buttons on their pages!
