Sen Blunt, Sen Pryor, Rep Aderholt and Rep Farr: Keep the defunding verbiage in the Ag Budget

22 Dec

Food Safety is compromised already – we need more inspectors for food imports and in American slaughter houses to ensure that the food available for sale in the USA is safe. Funding horse meat inspections will only take more inspectors away from inspecting the other meats that are eaten in the USA.

If you want to call them please be polite and respectful. If you are not in their state or Congressional district they will tell you that you should call your own Senator or Representative; tell them: this is a NATIONAL ISSUE and affects you just as much as it affects the citizens in their state or district. One thing NOT to mention is that horse slaughter is not humane because they will not listen to that argument — they don’t care!

If you are NOT an American citizen, please leave a comment on the petition indicating that you do not want this meat exported to your country because you know that American horses are not raised in the food pipeline and should not be eaten as they may be toxic as a result of the products and drugs they may be given during their lifetime.

Sen Blunt, Sen Pryor, Rep Aderholt and Rep Farr: Keep the defunding verbiage in the Ag Budget.

Why this is important

The defunding language was removed from the Ag Budget in 2011 in a sneaky move on the part of Sen Blunt, Sen Kohl and Rep Kingston. We are faced with equine slaughter operations opening on US soil for the first time in 6 years because of this deceptive move. We do NOT want that language removed this time! The American Taxpayer is already dealing with poor inspections of our meat due to the budget cuts. We do not want the USDA inspecting meat that will not be used in the American food supply!

We The People are aware that the Ag Appropriations Conference will be held shortly. We urge you to leave the horse slaughter inspection defunding language (by Rep Moran) in the budget. The House and Senate Bills are identical and therefore do not need to be reconciled! They are IDENTICAL! It is undemocratic to pull out this language this time!

Our horses are unfit for human consumption, and we do not want our tax dollars funding USDA inspections at the tune of $400k per plant, per year. 80% of Americans are opposed to equine slaughter.

Please represent We The People, and keep the DEFUNDING in the budget! Please see http://www.kaufmanzoning.org to learn about the horror and reality of equine slaughter.
